Ingredients of KFC-style Homemade Chicken Drumstick without Oven

  • 8 pieces chicken legs
  • 1 and 1/3 cup refined oil
  • 2/3 teaspoon salt

For Marination
  • 2 and 2/3 tablespoon yoghurt (curd)
  • 2/3 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/3 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 2/3 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 teaspoon garlic paste

For The Main Dish
  • 2 and 2/3 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 and 1/3 tablespoon oats
  • 2 and 3/4 egg
  • 1 and 1/3 tablespoon corn flour
  • 1 and 1/3 tablespoon breadcrumbs

How to make KFC-style Homemade Chicken Drumstick without Oven
Step 1
Wash the chicken pieces and slit them in between so that the marinade is able to get absorbed.

Step 2
Now, take a small bowl and mix together yoghurt (curd), ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt as per your taste. Apply the marinade on chicken legs and let them marinate overnight.

Step 3
In another bowl, mix together all purpose flour, corn flour, oats, breadcrumbs, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, cumin powder and salt as per your taste. Coat the marinated chicken in the powdered mixture and keep aside.

Step 4
Now, heat oil in a pan over high flame. When the oil is hot enough, add the coated chicken pieces in the oil and fry the chicken for 5 minutes. Then, cook the chicken on low flame for about 5-10 minutes until tender and soft.

Step 5
Remove chicken pieces from the pan and let them cool for sometime. Lower the flame and do not switch off the burner.

Step 6
Crack open the eggs in a large bowl and whisk well. Coat the fried chicken in eggs and again in the powdered mixture.

Step 7
Now, deep fry the chicken pieces once again. This will give the chicken a crunchy texture. Once fried, remove the chicken pieces on a kitchen towel to soak the extra oil. Serve hot with your favourite dip and enjoy!
