How to block emails in Gmail

Alongside Twitter trolls and auto-playing adverts, unsolicited email probably ranks highly in most people's lists of "most annoying things about the internet."

And it's not just email spam that's cluttering up your inbox. What chance do you have of maintaining a "zero inbox" philosophy if you're under a constant barrage of notification emails from Facebook, your bank, and every other site where you have an online presence?

Luckily, Gmail makes it easy to block emails from addresses you're not interested in.

How to Block Emails in Gmail

* Navigate to google.com/gmail and enter your Google Account credentials.

* Find an email from the person, business, or random address that you want to block.

* Open the email.

* Click on the down arrow on the same line as the sender's name/address.

* Select Block "[Sender's name/address]".

* How to Unblock Emails in Gmail

* If you accidentally block the wrong person's, don't worry, the situation is easy to rectify:

Open Gmail.

* Click on the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner.

* Select Settings.

* Click on the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab at the top of the page.

* Scroll down to The following email addresses are blocked. Messages from these addresses will appear in Spam.

* Highlight the address you want to unblock.

* Click on Unblock Selected Addresses.
